Aquinnah Stadium Proposed

It is a move that makes Bon Jovi's nose twitch, a concert venue in Aquinnah. While it is unlikely to be of the size of venue that Mr. Jovi prefers, and would only be seasonal, a proposal to erect a stage at the Aquinnah circle could mean pleasurable afternoons in the Head and higher revenue for local businesses.

But the thing that everyone who tries to do anything in Gay Head always seems to forget is that the people on whose land we have been squatting for the last four hundred years have a say in what happens on their land. VT wants you to try to rewrite that sentence and submit it.

Meeting earlier in the month, voters decided to allow selectmen to accept proposals for developing the site. Some developers have said that the space could be used for everything from concerts to outdoor movies. One thing it is already used for is the Wamp's annual powwow. And therein lies the conflict. Though the circle is town owned land, the surrounding area belongs to the tribe. It looks like the tribe might have to get off of the res and into town hall to make their case to voters.
