Guantanamo & Chrysler
I'm back. And just in time to save Guantanamo. From what? From the idiot congressmen who are holding up the program. The latest death, the suicide of a Yemeni national, only drives home that America, with our tax dollars, has built a little piece of hell on Earth and it needs to be closed, now.
The people who are defending this prison, like Mitt Romney, do so in the name of justice. But that is exactly why Gitmo must close, because there is no justice there. Al-Hanashi, the recently dead at his own hand Yemeni, is a great example. He had been held at the high security detention facility for nearly seven years with no charges. There is no mechanism for any kind of defense for these men, innocent or guilty. Without justice there can be no peace in the world.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a conservative and all for maintaining a tough war on terror and against pulling out of Iraq. But if we are going to continue to call this a "war on terror" then we need to use either military tribunals or some other force of law to charge, try and convict some of the criminals we are fighting.
We are we going to send these prisoners. Who cares. Does any rational person really think that having a suspected terrorist in a maximum security prison is a risk to their community? Get a job. Oh, wait. That's not so easy.
So, here's my suggestion, give Guantanamo a license to deal Chrysler cars. Then it can close with the rest of them next week. Good to be back. - B.
