Swine Flu On MV

We were beginning to feel left out. Dukes County has finally joined the rest of Massachusetts in reporting its first case of the H1N1 influenza strain. The case is one of 86 new infections in the Bay State which, according to WBZ, brings the total number of cases to nearly 1000.

The story appeared on WBZ and today's Gazette also has a write up. According to the VG, a woman in her early 40s was hospitalized for two nights last week. She was discharged and  hospital officials seem to have nothing but nice things to say, like how prepared they were for the virus and yet no unusual "precautions" were taken.

If VT knows anything about swine flu, which we don't, it is likely that the Island has not seen the last of this porcine prostration.
