Islander Sets New Speed Record

Islanders may move at a slower pace, perhaps, than off-islanders but there is no one in the country who is as fast as this dude. Robert Douglas, sailing in the 2009 Luderitz Speed Challenge, has once again set a new outright speed sailing record for the country.

Falling just .03 knots short of the world speed sailing record, Douglas once again became the fastest sailor in the country by virtue of his handing a kite while strapped to a board.  Check out how seriously our boy stacks up:

Douglas can often be seen practicing his skills in the shallow waters of the lagoon between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. He is one of a dozen or so kite boarders out for speed on days when the boats aren't even running. Congrats!
