Aquinnah

Air Sick

VT is suffering from a hangover. We have been over served. What are we over consuming? Wind. Wind news. Wind blogs. Wind regulations. If only there were some way to harness all the hot air being blown around by both sides...Oh, wait, maybe we are just suffering from Wind Turbine Syndrome!

Worst Dad Ever!

Um, this isn't funny at all. According to press reports, Michael Monahan of Aquinnah has been charged with domestic assualt and wanton or reckless endangerment of a child for locking his kids in the truck of his car.

Smell The Wampum

Might have been a more seductive title than "Tunes From the Tipi" but who are we to judge. The documentary film about the life and songs of Kate Taylor is getting some good press. The film opened this summer on the Vineyard and has been making the rounds of small theaters. The Herald writes it up.

Wamps May Still Save The Sound

The Wampanoag tribes of Aquinnah and Mashpee may be the last hope for SOSers. The two tribes are trying to get the entire sound listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Their opposition to the project is the same as the rest of the NIMBY camp: the view. A view that is a connection to their history and their spiritual being.

NOMSG (not on my sacred ground)

In a letter to federal officials, both the Mashpee and Aquinnah tribes object to the government's contention that the Cape Wind project will have only minimal impact on historic or cultural lands. The tribes argue that Horseshoe shoal was ancient fishing grounds and may even have been a burial site.
