SWAT Team Makes House Call

The Martha's Vineyard Tactical Response Team (SWAT) went to work this weekend for what VT thinks is the first time. If you didn't know that this quaint little Island had a SWAT team, you were wrong. When these guys come up the driveway, lie down with your hands on your head.

On Saturday, the West Tisbury police department was notified by the Barnstable Superior Court Probation Department that there was a bad guy in town. William F. Campbell, approximately 38 years-of-age, was reportedly living on Great Plains Road and in violation of his probation. Apparently, Mr. Campbell had removed his court ordered tracking device. According to police, the suspect has an "extensive criminal past, including violence and the potential of possible violent reaction to the police." Officials would not discuss any details with VT but needless to say the dude was bad enough to warrant calling out the TRT.

Shortly after 7:30pm the 8-10 man team executed the so-called high risk arrest warrant safely and without incident, which is exactly what they are trained to do.
